COVID-19: 2,253 new cases and 11 deaths today, recovery rate now 90.16%

Malaysia has recorded 2,253 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 295,951. There are 11 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 1,111.

The Ministry of Health has reported 3,085 new recoveries and a total of 266,846 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 90.16% while the mortality rate is at 0.38%. The last time Malaysia had a recovery rate of more than 90% was 27th September 2020.

There are currently 27,994 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 201 are in ICU while 93 require respiratory support.

Out of the 2,253 new cases reported today, 7 are imported while 2,246 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 633 cases, followed by Perak with 545 cases, Johor with 276 cases and Sarawak with 250 cases.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 10 new clusters identified today and 8 are workplace related. Below is the list of newly identified clusters:

A total of 91 clusters have recorded new cases today. The Jalan Changkat Jong cluster recorded the most with 474 cases, followed by Simpang Tiga Muar cluster with 55 new cases and Tembok Tapah cluster with 54 cases.
