The National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme has been launched and the first batch of vaccines will be arriving in Malaysia on Sunday, 21st February 2021. If you want to learn more about the vaccination program or have questions that need answering, you can tune in to a live talk session with the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin, along with other health officials.
It’s happening at 9pm tonight on Clubhouse, an audio-only platform that’s currently exclusive to iOS devices. You can join the session here.
Khairy will be joined by Dr Helmy Haja Mydin (Pulmonologist & Head of the Lung Centre at Pantai Hospital), Jemilah Mahmood (Public Health Special Advisor to the PM), Kalaiarasu Peariasamy (Director of Institute of Clinical Research), Giri Rajahram (Infectious Diseases Physician) and Akhmal Yusof (CEO of Clinical Research Malaysia).
Some of the things that we want to know include:
- Status of Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) registrations for all vaccines procured so far including Pfizer and Sinovac vaccines which are arriving this month. Has Ministry of Health given the green light to use the vaccines following the conditional registration approval?
- How will health authorities handle verification and prevent duplication of records from the 5 different channels for vaccine registration?
- What’s the education plan to fight misinformation about the vaccine and to encourage more Malaysians to sign up for vaccination?
- Why do people who signed up online get a COVID-19 vaccine immunisation digital certificate but individuals that signed up via the manual process get a vaccination card? Why can’t they get both?
It isn’t clear if Khairy will open the floor to questions but you can try to raise your hand during the Clubhouse session tonight.
