Malaysia has recorded 970 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 59,817. There are 4 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 345.
The Ministry of Health has reported 2,348 new recoveries and a total of 46,501 patients have recovered and discharged so far. 82% of today’s recoveries are from Sabah. The recovery rate is now 77.5% while the mortality rate is now 0.6%.
There are currently 12,971 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 110 are in ICU while 47 require respiratory support.
Out of the 970 new COVID-19 cases today, 5 are imported while 965 are transmitted locally. Negeri Sembilan reported the most with 318 cases, followed by Sabah with 293 cases, Selangor with 115 cases and Perak with 80 cases.
According to the Ministry of Health, bulk of the new cases in Negeri Sembilan are from the Bakti cluster. The cluster which involved a prison recorded 301 new cases today.
There are a 5 new clusters identified today. This include D’Bajaru cluster in Sabah, Gangsa cluster in Selangor, Batu Tujuh cluster in Johor, Tanjung Bunga cluster in Johor and Kerengge cluster in Terengganu.
A total of 40 active clusters have recorded new cases today. Apart from the Bakti cluster, the D’Bajaru cluster has recorded 56 new cases, followed by Pengkalan Barat cluster with 40 cases, Enggor cluster with 33 cases and Gangsa cluster with 23 cases. The Teratai cluster which recorded a staggering 1,511 cases yesterday has reported 17 new additions today.
