Fans of Capcom’s popular Mega Man series will be happy to know that Asics has just released a line of new, themed products for the franchise. The range consists of a pair of sneakers, 3 T-shirts and a sweatshirt, as well as a bag—that all pay tribute to Mega Man with designs created using 8-bit pixel art from the game.
The sneakers are designed based on the GEL-BND sneakers, a model that has evolved from a triathlon shoe. According to Asics, this particular model was chosen due to its visual similarities to Mega Man’s actual feet in-game.
If you look closely, the material of the upper part of the shoes has been designed to emulate the textures of the 8-bit graphics that you see in classic games like Mega Man. The shoelaces, meanwhile, have details that pay tribute to Mega Man’s buster—his weapon of choice in all games.
When you order the sneakers, they also come in a special shoebox that comes plastered in original art from the Mega Man game cartridge—a nod to sneaker collectors out there.
To complete the look, there are also 3 T-shirts and a sweatshirt available as part of the collaboration. The designs, of course, are all inspired by the franchise, with one of the T-shirts depicting Mega Man accelerating after receiving Asics shoes as an in-game item.
Another T-shirt is also adorned with the Japanese message: “All bosses, no damage”, for those of you that have completed the games without receiving any damage (That doesn’t include this writer, unfortunately).
