Sony now raising funds for a “wearable air-conditioner”, the Reon Pocket

Sony Japan recently launched a crowdfunding project for a pretty interesting device that should have great appeal to Malaysians, should the device ever make its way to our shores. A wearable air-conditioner. Sounds perfect for those long commutes, or those walks to lunch from the office, doesn’t it?

The Reon Pocket is smaller and lighter than your average smartphone, and releases cool or warm air through a panel while it sits in a bundled undershirt that has a slot for the module just below your neck.

It can seemingly work as either an air-conditioner or a heater, with temperature control available through an app on your smartphone. You also have the option to let the Reon Pocket adjust the temperature automatically, as well.

At the moment, the Roen Pocket is 46% to its target amount of 66,000,000 yen (about RM2,285), with 24 days (at the time of writing) left. Unfortunately, this device will only be available in Japan, but if it comes to Malaysia, there will definitely not be a shortage of suitors for the Reon Pocket. According to South China Morning Post, the device could go for 14,080 yen (about RM536).
