A landslide and ongoing construction of the Pan Borneo highway has caused major service disruptions for a number of Unifi and TM fixed-line customers in Sibu, Tanjung Manis and Jalau.

TM first alerted its customers about the device disruption on its social media assets at about 6pm on Saturday. The telco then issued an update that included pictures from the location where communication cables were damaged.

The cable cuts occurred at two locations. One in Julau where a major communications cable was damaged due to a landslide. The other location is in Bukit Singgalang where communications cables were damaged due to ongoing construction works for the Pan Borneo highway.

TM say restoration works to repair the damaged cables and restore affected services at the two sites started early Saturday evening and is expected to be completed by Sunday tomorrow morning.
