Next Gen iPhone to begin shipping in September. Sources told Reuters

Update: From The Malaysian Insider reports from Reuters one of its sources said that despite packing the same A5 1Ghz processor in the iPad 2, the new iPhone will look largely similar to the current iPhone 4. The sources have declined to be identified because the plans were not yet public.

Launched June 2010 (June 24 if you’re counting), the iPhone 4 is coming close to its replacement window because like clockwork, Apple will typically introduce a new version of its products on a yearly cycle.

In the built up to June, there has been numerous rumours and speculation as to what the new iPhone will be, what specs it will have and most interestingly, when will it be launched.

Although many of these rumours have been coming from well-heeled blogs and sites, we have never been compelled to pay much attention to them because as with all new Apple unreleased products, rumours are rife but facts are few and far between.

That is until now.

Reuters via Twitter have just broken the news saying that the next-generation iPhone (now very popularly referred to as the iPhone 5) will begin production in July or August and start shipping in September.

If there is a source that you can trust, one of them would definitely be Reuters.

So how does this fit in with the grand scheme of things? It looks like a June announcement of this new iPhone at WWDC 2011 fits in just nicely with what Reuters have revealed. An early announcement of the new iPhone by Apple could affect buyers who would wait to see what the market has to offer and choose the best device.

If the specs of the new iPhone is known early then some might just think, it is worth the wait and forgo from getting an alternative device.
