ASUS Malaysia is introducing a new smartphone that will compete with the “FullView” smartphones from Huawei, OPPO and vivo. Introduced as the Pegasus 4S in China, this smartphone comes with a tall 5.7″ display and a huge 4,310mAh battery.

While the product name for Malaysia isn’t known yet, the device is marketed as ASUS ZenFone 4 Max Plus in Russia. Interestingly, the Chinese Pegasus 4S unit uses an HD+ (1440×720) display but the Russian unit is listed with a higher FullHD+ resolution (2160×1080). With a 18:9 display aspect ratio, the device offers a large 5.7″ display in a 5.2″ smartphone body.

Under the hood, it runs on a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6750T processor with configuration of 3GB RAM + 32GB storage or 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. Over at the front, it gets an 8MP selfie camera while the rear gets a dual-camera setup consisting of a 16MP + 8MP sensor.

The device has already passed SIRIM’s certification and word has it that it could arrive in Malaysia as early as end of December 2017 or early January 2018. Pricing would definitely play an important role in this new smartphone release. The Huawei Nova 2i, vivo V7 and OPPO F5 are currently priced at around the RM1,299 mark.
