Bad news, the Huawei Mate 10 might look really boring

While everyone’s aboard the hype train for Apple‘s new iPhones, Huawei‘s big flagship Mate 10 announcement is also just around the corner. If you’re wondering why anyone should give a damn, it’s because the company’s device chief says that it would trump Apple’s handset.

Whether that ends up being true or not remains to be seen. However, thanks to the magic of 3D renders, we could have a clear look at what the Mate 10 will look like when it does launch.

These renders come courtesy of CompareRaja based on information provided by leakster @OnLeaks that apparently shows off the phone in its full glory. But honestly, I’m not sure I like the way the handset looks and I think the Mate 9 looks a whole lot classier. Compared to the drop dead gorgeous phones from Samsung and LG, this Mate 10 looks pretty boring.

That said, these are still only renders and rumours so take it with the appropriate pinch of salt.

Besides these renders, OnLeaks reveals that he smartphone will have rounded edges and thin bezels on the side. What’s more, the renders also reveal that the smartphone will follow in the footsteps of this year’s P10 series by moving its fingerprint scanner to the front. Around back, though, it does look like the Mate 10 will have the slightest of camera bumps from the dual-camera setup. And yes, there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack.

According to the leak, the Mate 10 will feature a 5.9-inch display in front and a glass back. Huawei themselves have revealed that the new handset will come with their latest Kirin 970 processor that can supposedly deliver 5G speeds at 4G and come with a dedicated neural processing unit for better AI.

One last thing you should note is that these renders are only of the Huawei Mate 10 and there could be Mate 10 Pro with dual curved screen like this year’s Mate 9 Pro. Whatever the case, all will be revealed on October 16th so stay tuned for the details!

In the meantime, what do you guys think of the Mate 10’s looks? Let me know in the comments below.
