Setel has launched Voice Fuelling in beta across Petronas stations in Malaysia today (7 October 2026). The new AI feature lets motorists activate petrol pumps by speaking their pump number to their phones.
To make digital fuelling more inclusive, the system supports four languages: English, Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin, and Tamil. Once you state your pump number, Setel’s AI processes the command using your preset payment method and fuelling preferences.
How to set up Voice Fuelling?

To use Voice Fuelling, you must first enable the Voice Fuelling feature within the Setel mobile app.
You can do this by launching Setel, tapping Voice Fuelling then enabling One-tap fuelling. You should also allow microphone access for this app.
Once you are done, this feature should be ready to use at any Petronas station.
How to use the Voice Fuelling feature?

Once parked at the bay, open the app and state your pump number in your preferred language (English, Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin, or Tamil). Remember, you need your Setel app to be running for this feature to work. It won’t work if Setel isn’t active.
Setel’s AI voice recognition processes the command and automatically initiates the pump using your saved payment method and default fuel amount settings.
To assist you with setup and testing, Petronas dealers and ground crew will provide on-ground support at participating stations.
The Voice Fuelling feature is currently in beta and rolling out progressively across the Setel app.
Promos and Mesra Rewards

Alongside the rollout, Setel also offers promos for both new and existing users:
- New User Promo: New users who register, verify their account, and pump a minimum of 1 litre will earn 5x Mesra Rewards points (capped at 500 points). This promotion applies to all fuel types, including RON95, RON97, Diesel, BUDI95, and BUDI Diesel.
- Existing Users Promo: Setel Savers and Refer-a-Friend programs remain active, offering bonus points, Setel Credits, and prize opportunities.
- End-of-Year Campaign (For new and existing users): The “Full Thank” campaign and related promotions will continue running through the end of 2026.
What problem is Setel trying to solve?
Honestly, Setel’s One-tap Fuelling is already pretty simple. Since the voice feature requires you to launch the app, the experience isn’t completely hands free and you would need to tap on your phone anyway. Saying the pump number out loud only saves you that one extra step.
Since it relies on your voice, you would need to have a quiet environment. So if you have other passengers with you or if the music is playing, that would pose some challenges.
Is Setel fixing an actual problem?
