iQOO 16 launched with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, 165Hz refresh rate and 8,400mAh battery

iQOO has just released the iQOO 16 in China. This is their latest flagship smartphone which succeeds last year’s iQOO 15.

It is also the one of the latest flagship smartphones to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 after the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. Besides having the latest flagship chipset, it also boasts improved display and longer battery life compared to its predecessor.

The iQOO 16 features an industrial-looking design with a matte-finished aluminium frame along with an interesting camera bump design.

iQOO 16 specs and features

The iQOO 16 features the 6.85-inch M16 AMOLED display, 1440×3168 resolution, a 19.8:9 aspect ratio, and a 165Hz refresh rate. It also runs on Qualcomm’s range-topping Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 mated with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage.

Camera-wise, the phone houses a triple camera setup with a 50MP main 1/1.3-inch type sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide with autofocus using a 1/2.75″ type sensor, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with OIS, using a 1/1.95″ type sensor.

Meanwhile, the selfie cam sports a fixed-focus 32 MP front camera with an f/2.2 aperture, 21mm equivalent ultra-wide focal length, 1/3.1″ sensor size, 0.7 µm pixel size, HDR support, and video recording capabilities up to 4K at 60 fps. Durability-wise, the phone is rated IP68, and IP69 for dust and water resistance.

Moreover, this device houses an 8,400 mAh battery with support for 100W wired and 40W wireless charging. Interestingly, the iQOO 16’s battery is 20% bigger than the previous flagship generation (iQOO 15 at 7,000 mAh). That makes it one of iQOO’s best smartphones when it comes to battery life.

On top of that, it runs Android 17 and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner. Other sensors include the accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.

At the moment, there are no details of its availability for the global market. However, it is likely that the iQOO 16 will make it to the Malaysian market at a later time.
