There’s a PS5 game emulator for PC that can run games at 60FPS, but there’s a catch

The developers of a PlayStation 5 simulator called SharpEmu recently claimed that they are able to get some PS5 games to run at 60FPS. The simulator is fairly new as it was just introduced the world back in July.

Developed in C#, SharpEmu also uses Vulkan and MoltenVK for graphics API calls. The emulator can support Windows, Linux, and macOS – surprisingly, it can even run on Windows on ARM and Apple Silicon-based devices.

One of SharpEmu’s major design feature is that it can run the console’s CPU instructions natively on a standard PC. This probably has to do with the fact that the PS5 is running on AMD Zen 2 x86-64 CPU architecture.

The Emulator Is Still Far From Finished

As of now, the developers have tested 55 titles so far including several prominent titles such as Demon Souls, Silent Hill: The Short Message, Gran Turismo 7 and many more.

However, only 6 titles were fully playable at 60FPS. These games include Dreaming Sarah, Void Terrarium, New Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja, Tetris Forever, Hoa, and Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered.

The developers stress the PS5 emulator is still in the early stages. So, it could be a while before we can see the emulator handle more titles
