U Mobile launches EIP Hub to drive 5G-Advanced and AI adoption for Malaysian enterprises

U Mobile has officially launched its Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP) Hub, a dedicated collaborative facility aimed at accelerating the adoption of 5G-Advanced (5G-A) and artificial intelligence among local businesses.

Officiated by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, the launch marks a major milestone for Malaysia’s newest 5G network provider as it builds a comprehensive digital foundation for enterprise transformation.

Turning emerging tech concepts into practical business solutions

The EIP Hub serves as an advanced collaborative sandbox built entirely on U Mobile’s state-of-the-art 5G-A infrastructure. It provides enterprises with a controlled environment to develop, test, and demonstrate 5G-A and AI solutions before deploying them at scale. This dedicated space aims to solve a common enterprise hurdle by helping organisations translate emerging technologies into practical business outcomes, ultimately reducing implementation risks and accelerating commercial adoption.

To demonstrate the real-world capabilities of its network, U Mobile showcased several in-house implementations during the launch. These practical applications included AI-driven visual intelligence for real-time operational monitoring, predictive asset management using digital twins, autonomous 5G drone patrolling for surveillance, and 5G-enabled humanoid robotics designed to automate routine operations and boost productivity.

Backed by major tech players and industry experts

Rather than building the ecosystem in isolation, U Mobile has assembled a formidable network of 15 partners spanning technology, enablement, and academia.

The platform’s anchor partners include Amazon Web Services, Huawei Malaysia, Palo Alto Networks, Qualcomm, and Agibot, providing the foundational cloud architecture, network infrastructure, zero-trust cybersecurity, edge AI, and robotics platforms required for enterprise-grade experimentation.

The ecosystem is further strengthened by technology partners such as Braintree Technologies, China Mobile International, Meraque Group, ZTE Malaysia, Tapway, and Akila. These players bring highly specialised capabilities to the hub, ranging from agricultural technology and smart building digital twins to real-time video analytics and autonomous systems.

U Mobile is also working closely with MRANTI and Cradle Fund to connect high-potential startups with funding pathways and testing environments, while the International Islamic University Malaysia drives applied research and 5G talent development.

To guide the platform’s strategic direction, U Mobile relies on an advisory panel of prominent industry figures appointed in July.

The panel includes Petronas Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence Head Datin Dr Ts Habsah Nordin, SME Association of Malaysia National President Dr Chin Chee Seong, Malaysia Smart Cities Alliance Association Chairman Ts Dr Raslan Ahmad, and Konsortium AI Negara Founding Member Ts Tan Aik Keong.

Driving Malaysia’s next phase of digital growth

The launch event also highlighted several industry-specific solutions developed by EIP partners to showcase the tangible impact of 5G-A and AI across different sectors.

Attendees were given an early look at an AI-powered agriculture solution by MCMC AgriNXT for plantation optimisation, an intelligent retail analytics platform by Qualcomm to track customer behaviour, and an AI-powered Smart Ward Solution by Huawei that integrates 5G, Fixed Wireless Access, and IoT for real-time patient monitoring.

U Mobile Chief Executive Officer Wong Heang Tuck emphasised that the telco’s ambition goes beyond providing basic connectivity. He stated that the company is actively building the digital infrastructure required to power the country’s next phase of growth.

Through the EIP Hub, U Mobile aims to foster collaboration between government, industry, academia, and technology partners to scale innovations that create measurable business outcomes and drive meaningful progress for the nation.
