We may still be months away from Samsung’s launch of its next-generation foldable flagship, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, but early CAD-based renders have already surfaced. Shared by serial leakster OnLeaks in collaboration with Android Headlines, the images also hint at several potential hardware upgrades.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 could bring the series’ biggest upgrades in years

According to the renders, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 may feature a less visible crease on its foldable display, alongside a redesigned hinge that improves durability.
The foldable could also mark the return of S Pen support to the Galaxy Z Fold lineup. Samsung dropped the feature with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in its pursuit of making the device the world’s thinnest foldable. The Z Fold 8, however, may sacrifice that title slightly. Reports suggest it could measure around 4.5mm when unfolded — about 0.3mm thicker than its predecessor. This is with the protruding bezels included in the measurement.

Under the hood, the device is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, the same processor featured in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. It may also include a vapour chamber for improved thermal performance — something notably absent from the Z Fold 7.
Camera upgrades could be another highlight. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is rumoured to adopt a new 50MP ultra-wide camera borrowed from Samsung’s Ultra lineup, replacing the 12MP unit found in the Z Fold 7. This would accompany the existing 200MP main sensor and 10MP 3x telephoto camera.

Battery life could see a meaningful boost as well. Reports point to a larger 5,000mAh battery, up from the Z Fold 7’s 4,400mAh capacity. If true, this would be the first battery upgrade for the series since the Z Fold 3, which itself was a slight downgrade from the Z Fold 2’s 4,500mAh unit.
Charging speeds may also finally improve, increasing from 25W to 45W — another long-awaited upgrade that has remained unchanged since the Z Fold 3.
While details about the device’s front cameras remain scarce, Samsung will likely continue using conventional selfie sensors rather than under-display cameras to prioritise image quality.
Expected launch in August, right before foldable iPhone

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is widely expected to launch in August 2026, or possibly as early as July. That timing would place it just ahead of the long-rumoured foldable iPhone, which is predicted to debut at Apple’s September event.
