The MacBook Air 2026 comes in 4 colour choices – Sky Blue, Silver, Starlight and Midnight. At the time or writing, the M5-powered MacBook Air is still listed as coming soon for Malaysia.

What’s new for MacBook Air in 2026?

The M5-powered MacBook Air is essentially a minor incremental upgrade as the hardware remains mostly unchanged from the M4-powered version which was released last year.

The 13″ version gets a 13.6″ Liquid Retina Display pushing 2560×1664 pixels, while the 15″ version gets a 15.3″ Liquid Retina Display that does 2880×1864 pixels. Both screens offer 500 nits of brightness, Wide Colour (P3) gamut and True Tone technology.

Under the hood, the new M5 chip boasts superior performance up to 4x faster for AI tasks compared to the M4-powered model. The new MacBook Air also offers faster unified memory with 153GB/s of bandwidth versus 120GB/s for last year’s model.

Apple has also discontinued the base 256GB storage, which makes 512GB the new minimal storage option. Apple still offers a total of four storage choices with the introduction of a larger 4TB option, a first for the MacBook Air.

Also new is Apple’s N1 connectivity chip which enables support for WiFi 7 (802.11be) and Bluetooth 6.0.

The rest of the MacBook Air looks the same as before and it still offers up to 18 hours of battery life. Also retained is a 12MP Centre Stage camera that supports 1080p HD video recording, four-speaker sound system (six-speaker for 15″), three-mic array with directional beamforming, 3.5mm headphone jack, backlit Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and a Force Touch trackpad.

The MacBook Air still comes with two Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports and a MagSafe 3 charging port.
