Tesla Model Y 2026 for Malaysia gets a larger 16-inch screen and black headliner

The updated 2026 Tesla Model Y, featuring a larger screen and refreshed interior, is now available for order in Malaysia.

This comes after the new updates were spotted several weeks ago for 2026 Model Y orders in mainland China.

The best part is that these new upgrades come at no extra cost and Tesla Malaysia continues to maintain the same pricing as last year for new customised orders in 2026.

The first change is the interior headliner which covers the frame around the panoramic glass roof as well as the side pillars. Typically offered in light grey, the new Model Y will come with Black headliner as standard, which should give it a more premium appearance.

The second upgrade is the central touch screen display. Initially offered in 15.4″ in Full HD+ resolution of 1920×1200 pixels, the updated Model Y gets a slightly larger 16″ QuadHD screen that pushes a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels.

The second-row display remains unchanged with an 8″ screen.

The new upgrades are seen as a move to streamline components across the entire Model Y lineup including the 6-seater Model Y L (exclusive to China) as well as the Tesla Model Y Performance.

At the moment, Tesla Malaysia is only offering two variants of the Model Y, the RWD version priced from RM195,450 and the Long Range AWD version priced from RM242,450.

If you don’t mind the previous grey headliner and slightly smaller 15.4″ display, you can get extra savings with Tesla’s existing stock inventory where they offer price reductions up to RM20,750 for the Model Y demo units.

It is interesting to point out that Tesla has introduced the Long Range RWD version of the Model Y in several Southeast Asia markets such as Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. With a single-motor and large battery combination, the Model Y Long Range RWD boasts up to 661km WLTP-rated range, which is 10% more than the Long Range AWD variant.

So far there’s no info yet on the availability for the Model Y Long Range RWD and the new Model Y Performance for our local Malaysian market.
