XPeng will be expanding the XPeng G6 FL line-up in Malaysia with the RWD Standard Range variant. Set to be launched on 14 January, it is the 4th option for the model in our market after RWD Long Range Pro, AWD Performance, and AWD Black Edition, which were launched last October.
The new variant has since been listed on XPeng Malaysia’s website, although only its basic specs were listed on the site without any pricing. As the RWD Standard Range variant is going to be the new base model for the G6 FL in Malaysia, the pricing should be lower than the RWD Long Range Pro, which is currently listed at RM178,888.
XPeng G6 FL RWD Std Range: What’s the difference?

According to XPeng Malaysia’s website, the G6 FL RWD Standard Range features a 185kW (248hp) motor with 440Nm of torque and is powered by a 68.5kWh LFP battery. As a comparison, the RWD Long Range Pro features a 218kW (292hp) motor with 440Nm of torque and an 80.8kWh LFP battery.
Since the rest of the specs are still missing, we are going to refer to Thailand’s specs to fill in the blanks at the moment, as the variant was launched over there last November.

According to Thailand’s specs sheet, the RWD Standard Range variant can deliver 470km of WLTP-rated range. Despite having less power output, this variant can still hit 0 to 100km/h in 6.94s, which is just 0.24s slower than the Long Range version.
Since it is still an 800V vehicle, the RWD Standard Range continues to offer blazing fast DC charging speed as per other higher-end G6 variants. However, the DC charging speed is slightly lower at 382kW as opposed to 451kW as per other variants, but then again, it is not easy to find chargers in Malaysia that provide such speed.

The specs sheet from Thailand has also listed several features that are missing from the Standard Range variant, including Active Lane Change, Driver State Monitoring, Blind Spot View, and digital rearview mirror. We’ll keep you updated on the Malaysian launch day, whether this applies to our unit as well.
It is also not known at the moment whether the RWD Standard Range will be assembled in Malaysia, although it is likely that the first batch will be imported from China. This is because the local assembly (CKD) operation at EP Manufacturing Berhad’s facility in Malaysia will only be ready in March.
