Perodua’s new electric vehicle will be launched before the end of November. This is based on the Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s speech during his visit to Perodua’s headquarters at Sungai Choh in Rawang earlier today.

The Prime Minister has hinted several times during the speech that the launch of Perodua’s first EV will take place at the end of the month. However, the exact launch date was not revealed as Anwar himself said that he will confirm the date within the next 1 or 2 days.

In another interesting remark, the Prime Minister also said that Perodua’s upcoming EV fulfils the Madani concept for being sustainable, environmentally friendly, state-of-the-art, locally produced, and affordable.

“…and I am waiting for the launch of the car whose concept and philosophy are very Madani.

Sustainable, environmentally friendly, local production, and the latest state-of-the-art. The Perodua that we will launch at the end of this month, God willing.

I mention that it fulfils the Madani concept because it is also affordable, and that the production must meet national needs. Production that can help generate fresher economic growth. Then, exports.

And when we use EV, and this EV is local. I am very impressed with the capabilities of the local talents.” – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

What do we know about the Perodua EV so far?

The manifestation of Perodua’s EV ambition was first shown to the public in the form of Electric Motion Online (eMO) scale model at Malaysia Auto Show 2023. The national automaker then came to the 2024 event with the eMO-I prototype, which was a Myvi that had been converted into an EV.

A few months after that, Perodua then unveiled the eMO-II EV Concept at the KL International Mobility Show 2024, which was turned into reality with some help from the Kepong-based Bufori. It was during this time that Perodua revealed that its EV will be priced at under RM90,000.

The company has also revealed some initial information about its upcoming EV during this event:

  • 50-ish kWh LFP battery from CATL
  • Around 400km of range (test cycle not revealed)
  • 0-100km/h under 7 seconds
  • AC charging time of around 8 hours to fully charge its battery
  • DC charging time of around 30 minutes to get 30% – 80%

In May 2025, Perodua once again had a massive outing at Malaysia Autoshow, which included the unveiling of a near-production EV prototype, albeit in a half-cut form. The new prototype, which features a fastback design, no longer carries the eMO moniker and was simply labelled as “Perodua Aspirations”.

It was at this event that Perodua’s President and CEO, Zainal Abidin Ahmad, officially confirmed that the upcoming Perodua EV will be offered with a battery leasing service for under RM80,000. No major updates to the specs, although Zainal mentioned that the EV can hit a top speed of 165km/h, while it will also be fitted with L2 ADAS suite and is designed to meet the 5-star A-NCAP standards.

As you can tell from the timeline above, Perodua EV, which might be called the QV-E, is a long time coming. Hence, we are looking forward to its full reveal within the next few weeks.
