When we thought the OnePlus 15 was going to be Malaysia’s first Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 smartphone, Nubia snatched that title by launching its latest flagship, the Nubia Z80 Ultra, first. What makes it even more appealing is that the Z80 Ultra packs 512GB of storage as standard at a sub-RM4,000 price tag.

Nubia Z80 Ultra Malaysia: Specs and features
Design-wise, the Nubia Z80 Ultra doesn’t look too different from its predecessor. You still get a glass sandwich design with an aluminium frame wrapped around it, along with an IP68/69 rating for dust and water resistance.
Up front, you get a 6.85″ BOE-sourced AMOLED display that sports a refresh rate of up to 144Hz and a resolution of 2688×1216 pixels. This panel also boasts a 3,000Hz instant touch sampling rate and a 2,000 nits peak brightness.
Powering the Nubia Z80 Ultra is Qualcomm’s top-dog mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. In Malaysia, the device is offered in a single 512GB UFS 4.1 storage option, coupled with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. On top of that, you also get an upgraded “oversized” 3D Ice Steel VC cooling system with a 10,000mm² vapour chamber.
At the back, the Nubia Z80 Ultra sports a similar camera setup to its predecessor. This consists of an OIS-equipped 50MP f/1.7 main camera with a 1/1.3″ Light & Shadow Master 990 sensor, a 50MP f/1.8 ultra-wide-angle shooter, and a 64MP f/2.48 telephoto camera with OIS that can optically zoom at up to 2.7x.
For selfies, you get a 16MP under-display front camera, and not to forget, the Z80 Ultra also features a physical shutter button.
Battery-wise, the Nubia Z80 Ultra is packed with a 7,200mAh silicon carbon battery that can be charged at 80W via USB-C or a wireless charger. The device also comes packaged with the Nubia 80W wireless charging kit. Last but not least, the Nubia Z80 Ultra comes with 5G, WiFi 7, and Bluetooth 6.0.
