EV Connection (EVC) has unveiled yet another new green energy initiative in the form of the Zero Capex Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) programme. Under this new initiative, companies are able to obtain BESS for their commercial and industrial premises without any upfront cost.

Aside from installation, we were informed that EVC will also handle all the necessary approvals and licences from authorities during deployment. The same also applies to the maintenance and performance optimisaion of the BESS.

“BESS gives Malaysian businesses a powerful tool to control costs and operate more efficiently. Given our ample experience in this field, we’re proud to be able to introduce this technology to more businesses via this programme,” – Ir. Lee Yuen How, Managing Director, EV Connection.

What are the benefits of BESS?

One of the main advantage that businesses can benefit from having a BESS is cost savings on their electricity bill. This is because BESS allows businesses to store electricity generated from renewable sources such a solar, or capture it during off-peak hours when electricity cost is much lower.

They can then utilise the energy stored in the BESS during peak hours instead of taking it directly from the grid, avoiding the higher electricity cost. In addition to that, a BESS can also help address power reliability issues such as limited energy supply, and grid constraints.

EVC and BESS

Being one of the pioneer in Malaysia’s EV charging infrastructure, majority of EVC’s existing BESS deployments are related to EV chargers. For EV users, they may have encountered Gentari BESS-assisted EV chargers which were deployed with the help of EVC such as in Behrang Layby (both directions), Senawang Layby (both directions), Perasing R&R, and Ajil R&R Westbound.

That being said, the company has also installed BESS for applications outside of the EV charging infrastructure in Bangi Golf Resort and Setia Alam. In total, EVC currently has already delivered BESS with battery capacity of almost 3MWh throughout Malaysia.

For companies that are interested in the EVC Zero Capex BESS initiative, they can register their interest on EVC’s website and EVC BESS team will contact them if they get shortlisted.
