All Malaysian adults will soon receive their RM100 SARA (Sumbangan Asas Rahmah) Cash Aid starting from 31st August 2025. Similar to previous cash aid programmes, there’s lot of misinformation and scams circulating online.

Scammers are taking the opportunity to scam individuals to give out their personal information and potentially online banking credentials through various deceptive techniques.

The RM100 SARA initiative is actually quite straight forward and it only requires your MyKad (IC). Here’s everything you need to know.

RM100 SARA does NOT use TNG on your MyKad

As announced by the Prime Minister, the RM100 SARA Cash Aid will be disbursed using the MyKad. Many had assumed that the RM100 will be credited using the integrated Touch ‘n Go feature but this is NOT TRUE.

As we’ve posted recently, Touch ‘n Go is NOT involved in the RM100 SARA Cash Aid initiative. So there’s no need to check your TNG Card balance or link the card to your TNG eWallet. You don’t even need to worry if the TNG Card has expired.

There’s no registration, no activation, no apps or sign up required. Just use your MyKad.

Who is eligible for RM100 SARA Cash Aid?

This one-off RM100 SARA Cash Aid will be given to ALL Malaysian adults aged 18 years old and above. If there’s a family of four adults in a household (e.g. Husband, Wife, and two children aged 18 years old and above), that’s a total of RM400.

Remember, the RM100 is allocated per MyKad.You can utilise the RM100 between 31st August to 31st December 2025 at over 4,100 participating supermarkets.

What can you buy with the RM100 SARA Cash aid?

14 product categories approved under Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA)

The RM100 SARA cash aid is intended for permitted essential items. Over 90,000 essential items have been identified under the program which covers 14 categories including groceries, self-care, medication, cleaning products and school essentials.

You can only utilise it at participating merchants under MyKasih which also includes Mydin, Giant, Econsave, Lotus’s and 99speedmart. You can find the list of supermarkets in your town and state here.

How to redeem your RM100 SARA at participating Supermarket?

To redeem your RM100 SARA Cash Aid, visit a participating Supermarket to buy your essential goods.

STEP 1: Pick your essential goods from the 14 categories. Look out for goods labeled with SARA and MyKasih.

STEP 2: Check out at counter and present your MyKad for verification.

STEP 3: If it is your first time claiming cash aid via SARA, the default 6-digit pin (XXXXXXX) is the first 6-digit of your MyKad number. You will be asked to set a new 6-digit pin.

If you’ve updated your PIN, use the last updated 6-digit PIN when you make a payment later.

STEP 4: The cashier will scan all goods eligible under the SARA initiative

STEP 5: Proceed to make the payment using your MyKad and enter the 6-digit pin to confirm the payment.

STEP 6: Payment complete and a receipt will be issued for your transaction.

How do I check my SARA status and balance?

Check your SARA eligibility and balance online

If you want to check your SARA eligibility and balance, you can do so at the official MyKasih portal and click on SEMAK KELAYAKAN, and then enter your IC number.

For the RM100 SARA initiative which starts on 31st August 2025, users can check their status starting 21st August 2025.

Can I use my old MyKad to redeem?

Since MyKad is the single method to redeem the RM100 SARA cash aid, it needs to be in working order. Do you need to change if your MyKad is old?

According to the National Registration Department (Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara), don’t rush to their counters just yet. They urge users to try their MyKad first to ensure that the chip is working.

Only if the card fails to scan, rejected by the bank or government agency, or if it is heavily damaged, then you’ll need to seek for a replacement at the nearest JPN office.

A replacement card costs RM10 and you can get it done in 30 minutes at JPN Ibu Pejabat Negeri, JPN UTC and selected JPN branches.
