Grab Malaysia has launched a new beta service called GrabShuttle which is now available in Putrajaya. This is essentially a GrabShare-like service where you can get lower fares by sharing the ride with other passengers.

Since it is GrabShuttle is now offered as a Beta, it has limited service area and operating hours at the moment.

Grab describes the service as a bit of both Grab ride and a shuttle service. You’ll still be picked up in a car and get dropped off at your designated doorstep.

For now, GrabShuttle Beta rides in Putrajaya only works for trips to and from Putrajaya Sentral and you’ll be sharing the ride with up to 2 other passengers. That’s a total of 3 passengers (separate booking) per car but take note that the service only accepts 1 passenger per booking.

The GrabShuttle Beta service currently covers areas within Putrajaya which include Presint 1-5, 8,9,18, Masjid Putra, IOI CIty Mall and UITM. It is operational from 7am to 7pm between Monday-Friday, excluding public holidays.

According to the description, it may time some time to match your ride with other passengers travelling in the same direction and passengers will be picked up within 15 to 30 minutes of booking.

When we did a quick check, a GrabShuttle ride from Putrajaya Sentral to a government building in Presint 4 costs RM5 if nobody else is sharing with you. Meanwhile rides to Putrajaya International Convention Centre and UITM Dengkil campus cost RM6 each, and rides to IOI City Mall costs RM7. So your total fare cost will only be cheaper if your ride is matched with another rider heading to the same direction.
