It is not a secret that Apple will be introducing its next-gen iOS version, expected to be called iOS 19, during this year’s WWDC, which is set to take place between the 9th and 13th of June. However, before we get to see the new iPhone OS being officially unveiled, what seems to be a full-on leak of the OS has just been spread across the internet just hours ago.
iOS 19: Biggest redesign since iOS 7?

These iOS 19 leaks were shared by a YouTube channel famous for Apple-related leaks, FPT, via a video. What we’re seeing here is possibly one of the largest-scale redesigns that has happened to iOS since iOS 7 dropped over 11 years ago.
First off, iOS 19 might feature a lot of rounded-off elements, including the app icons, widgets, control centre, as well as many of the native iOS apps. At first glance, it seems like Apple has taken quite some inspiration from Android, which has been featuring rounded icons since Android 8.0 Oreo in 2017.
That might be true, but this won’t be Apple’s first time implementing such design, as the company’s own Vision OS, which the Apple Vision Pro runs on, also features similar-looking rounded icons. FPT’s presenter, Jon Prosser, also added the possibility of iOS 19 app icons featuring squircle designs instead. We will have to wait till at least June to find out what the final design will look like.

On top of that, the lock screen shortcut buttons on iOS 19 are expected to not only have a mirror finish, but will also shimmer at different angles when you tilt the phone around. This reminds me of the Parallax Effect introduced in iOS 7 that gave the phone’s wallpaper and home screen icons a 3D-like effect when you tilt the phone around.
Aside from new design changes and elements, native iOS apps on iOS 19 are said to also come with a redesigned dock at the bottom of the UI, rumoured to be called “TabView”. In the video, the dock is shown to house icons such as “Home” and “Search” of the respective apps.
Apple’s own Messages app is also expected to have its search bar moved to the bottom of the screen, allowing users to have an uninterrupted experience when scrolling through or interacting with their messages. Tapping on the search bar will also be easier considering how large modern iPhones have become.

Last but not least, we will also need to talk about iOS 19’s rumoured redesigned Camera app, featuring redesigned menus and tiles. If the rumour turns out to be true, this design change will be the biggest one the iOS camera app has received since iOS 7.
iPhone 17 Pro to include a Samsung Galaxy S4-inspired feature from 2013?

Besides redesigning the camera app on iOS 19, Apple is also said to introduce a new feature that will allow users to record videos using the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
If this sounds familiar to you, well, Samsung popularised this feature way back in 2013 with the Samsung Galaxy S4. Yes, that happened over 12 years ago. Anyhow, with iOS 19, this feature is most likely to be made exclusively for the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.
