Johor Premium Outlets (JPO) in Kulai is strengthening its status as the largest ultra-fast EV charging hub in the country. Following DC Handal’s recent expansion with an additional 400kW DC charger with 8 charging bays, ChargEV appears to be building a large scale EV charging hub next to it that will triple the number of DC charging points at the popular shopping destination.
For this location, ChargEV is deploying a similar setup as its recent EV charger deployment at Elmina Lakeside Mall. The EV charging location is still under construction but we can already see the scale of the charge points based on the size of the designated area.
The new chargers are not open to the public yet but there are already 6 skinny DC charge points with CCS2 nozzles turned on as indicated by the green lights at the top of the poles. Behind the barricaded area, there are at least a dozen more charge points installed with additional bays for further expansion.
From the looks of it, we estimate that there could be at least 20 DC charging bays once the site is completed. In combination with DC Handal’s existing DC chargers, we could be looking at over 30 DC charging bays for JPO, making this the largest EV charging hub in the country.

There are several upcoming large scale EV charging hubs being deployed at the southern state. A few months ago, we spotted an upcoming DC Handal EV Charging Hub located next to Mall of Medini near Legoland Malaysia with 28 Kempower satellite terminals.
Just recently, we were also given a sneak preview of Malaysia’s first electric-truck ready EV charging hub located at Pitstop Tangkak. The Tangkak location uses a 400kW Kempower DC charging solution with 8x DC satellite terminals which are able to cater to large commercial trucks. The Tangkak location is ideal as most EV trucks could do less than 300km of range and the charging stop is almost in the perfect midpoint between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
Going back to the JPO EV charging location, ChargEV uses eLoaded’s DC Grid system which ensures efficient energy distribution and ease of scalability while reducing energy transmission losses.
Unlike most DC chargers with bulky cabinets or thick satellite terminals, the eLoaded solution uses a skinny eLiix DC nozzles that are flexible to use while occupying a small footprint on the ground.
At the moment, ChargEV’s sole operating eLoaded DC Grid-based EV charging location is at Elmina Lakeside Mall which has been recently turned on as part of their trial. These chargers are currently priced at RM1.60 per kWh and we managed to get an output of 65kW.
