JomCharge and Gentari Go have issued a joint statement acknowledging an intermittent issue which had caused delays in activating some EV chargers on Saturday. According to the Charge Point Operator, the issue was caused by connectivity issues as they faced unprecedent demand on their charging network with record-breaking sessions per day.
Both JomCharge and Gentari Go said the growth reflects the increasing adoption of electric vehicles and the trust consumers place in them for their charging needs. It added that unfortunately, the surge had led to intermittent technical issues for some users which caused delays in processing real-time commands due to high system demand.
It reported that the delays occurred while starting charging sessions and it had affected a small percentage of transactions on JomCharge chargers and some Gentari/JomCharge joint-owned chargers.
To address the issue, both parties have taken immediate action to upgrade its infrastructure at around 3pm on 28th December 2024 to handle higher demand and reduce processing delays. It added that they are closely monitoring the performance and have observed significant improvements since the upgrade.
JomCharge and Gentari Go said they remain committed to providing a reliable and seamless charging experience for all EV drivers. They apologised for any inconveniences caused to customers who may have been affected last Saturday. They advise customers who are still facing issues to reach out to their support teams for further assistance.
