If you’re planning to subscribe to Spotify Premium for your family, take note that the music streaming platform has recently reduced the number of shared accounts under the new Family Plan. To recap, Spotify Premium Family plan previously allows users to share for up to 6 family members for just RM24.90/month.
Spotify Premium Family now offers just four instead of six premium accounts
Effective this month, the Premium Family account is now offering up to just 4 Premium accounts, which means that only 4 users can share the subscription within the same household. If you need additional accounts, Spotify allows you to add up to two more accounts for RM7.90/month each.
So if you need a total of 6 Spotify Premium accounts in a household, that would cost you a total of RM40.70 (RM24.90 + 2xRM7.90) per month for new subscribers.
Besides the reduced number of Premium Accounts for the family plan, the subscription fee remains mostly unchanged since the previous revision announced in August 2023.
Under Spotify’s ad-free Premium offering, the Individual Account costs RM15.90/month while the Duo account (2 accounts) costs RM21.50/month. Meanwhile, the Family account (4 accounts) costs RM24.90/month.
For short term subscription, the Mini account which allows 1 mobile-only subscription costs RM3.20/week. For students, the Student account is still offered for RM8.50/month.
What about existing Spotify Premium Family plan users?
So what happens if you’re an existing Spotify Premium Family account user? According to the official FAQ, your current 6-member Family Plan will remain unchanged if you’ve signed up for Premium Family plan before 12th November 2024.
A quick check in our own Spotify Premium Family account reveals that the streaming platform still retains the same 6 account slots as before.
From the looks of it, this new 4-member Spotify Premium Family account will only affect new subscribers, or existing subscribers who have failed to renew their account with their existing payment option.
