Proton e.MAS 7 to be available with estimated price of RM120k

Today is a big day for Proton as the company has finally unveiled one of the most important details for Proton e.MAS 7: pricing. While today’s announcement does not involve the final price tag for the national automaker’s first production electric vehicle, it is still crucial enough for consumers to decide whether they should place a booking for the EV which opens today.

Proton e.MAS 7 estimated pricing, colourways

Set to be launched this coming December, the Proton e.MAS 7 is going to be available in two variants and is estimated to start at RM120,000.

The new EV can be obtained in five colourways including Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Quartz Rose, Platinum Silver, and Lithium White. Interior-wise, e.MAS 7 only have one colour which is Indigo Blue.

You can book the e.MAS 7 at Proton e.MAS dealers and e.MAS official website nationwide with a booking fee of RM500. Alternatively, you can also do so through the newly launched Proton e.MAS super app that is now already available through Google Play, Huawei App Gallery, and iOS App Store.

Proton e.MAS 7 general specs

Physically, the e.MAS 7 is slightly longer, wider, and taller than its main well-established rival, the BYD Atto 3. Not only that, it also has more boot space as well.

Just check out the figures:

Regardless of the variant that you choose, the e.MAS 7 comes standard with a front-mounted 160kW (~215hp) electric motor producing 320Nm of torque. Powered by an Aegis Short Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, the EV can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 6.9 seconds and has a top speed of 175km//h.

Inside, the e.MAS 7 comes standard with leatherette seats alongside a powered driver’s seat and a two-spoke steering wheel that also has antibacterial protection. There is also a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster as well as a 15.4-inch 2.5K infotainment touchscreen that is running on a 7nm automotive-grade system-on-chip and Flyme Auto operating system.

The EV also has 6 airbags as standard together with an auto headlight, Active High Beam Control, rain sensor for the front wiper, and 360-degree camera. A first for a Proton model, both e.MAS 7 variants have been fitted with a fully-loaded Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite as standard too.

The ADAS suite includes major features such as Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Dynamic Brake Support (DBS), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Emergency Lane Keeping Assist (ELKA), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Rear Cross Traffic Braking (RCTB), and Traffic Sign Identification (TSI).

Proton e.MAS 7 Prime vs Premium

One of the major factors that differentiate the low-specs e.MAS 7 Prime and high-specs e.MAS 7 Premium is their battery capacity which also determines their respective range.

Specifically, the e.MAS 7 Prime has a battery capacity of 49.52kWh which allows this variant to deliver 345km of WLTP-rated range. On the other hand, the higher-end e.MAS 7 Premium has a 60.22kWh battery pack and can provide up to 410km of WLTP-rated range.

Similarly, both variant also comes with different DC charging capability. The Prime can support up to 80kW while the Premium can go as high as 100kW but their DC charging time from 30% to 80% is still identical at 20 minutes.

Furthermore, the Prime has 18-inch wheels and comes with Giti 225/55 tyres. As for the Premium variant, it has 19-inch wheels and Goodyear 235/50 tyres.

For those who are mindful of their in-car audio experience, the Premium has a Wanos 16-speaker audio system powered by Flyme Sound. This is opposed to the Prime version which was equipped with a 6-speaker audio system.

Not to forget, e.MAS 7 Premium also has several exclusive features including panaromic sunroof with sunshade, power tailgate, active grille shutter, auto-dimming rear view mirror, powered seat for the front passenger, memory function for driver’s seats, and ventilated front seats. It also has 256-colour ambient light, a head-up display (HUD), and a front parking sensor.
