Xiaomi 14T Series: New Leica Summilux tri-camera setup with enhanced night photo performance

Xiaomi has just unveiled its 14T series of smartphones. Consisting of the Xiaomi 14T Pro and the 14T, these smartphones not only sport new designs but also new SoCs, a further upgraded camera setup and more.

Xiaomi 14T Pro specs and features

The biggest change you can immediately spot on the Xiaomi 14T series over the previous 13T series is the design of the back cover. It now features a new quadrant camera island which houses a Leica Summilux tri-camera setup and a flashlight.

The Xiaomi 14T Pro is fitted with a 3D curved glass back and can be had in three colourways, namely Titan Grey, Titan Blue, and Titan Black. At the front of the Xiaomi 14T series is a 6.67-inch 144Hz “1.5K” AMOLED display with 2712 x 1220 resolution, and a peak brightness of 4,000 nits.

Powering the Xiaomi 14T Pro is a MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chip, which can be paired with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM depending on the variant chosen. Storage-wise, the Xiaomi 14T Pro can be had with up to 1TB of storage.

As mentioned above, the Xiaomi 14T Pro sports a Leica Summilux tri-camera setup, with a main focus on nighttime photography. This consists of a 50MP f/1.6 main camera with a 1/1.31″ Light Fusion 900 sensor, a 12MP ultrawide shooter and a 50MP telephoto sensor with 2.6x optical zoom. Handling selfies on the other hand is a 32MP front camera. The Xiaomi 14T Pro can record up to 8K/30fps videos.

The Xiaomi 14T series now features the Circle to Search function as well, powered by Google’s Gemini AI. The Chinese tech giant has also expanded the feature set of its in-house AI suite with new features such as an AI live translator and interpreter, AI film which can help generate videos based on footage you have chosen, as well as an AI recorder which can help transcribe audio recordings.

Both the Xiaomi 14T Pro and 14T are IP68-rated for water and dust resistance and feature dual stereo speakers. Providing power to the Xiaomi 14T series is a 5,000mAh battery. The 14T Pro supports wired charging at 120W and wireless charging via Xiaomi’s 50W HyperCharge. Like other recent Xiaomi smartphones, the Xiaomi 14T series runs on the brand’s HyperOS skin, which is based on Android 14.

Xiaomi 14T specs and features

At first glance, the Xiaomi 14T looks highly similar to the 14T Pro, and for the most part, it is. The main way to differentiate the 14T from the 14T Pro is its flat glass back, rather than a curved one, and it’s offered with an additional exclusive Lemon Green colour option as well, on top of the three colourways mentioned above.

In the performance department, the Xiaomi 14T is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra processor and can be had with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.

Camera-wise, the Xiaomi 14T also comes with a Leica Summilux tri-camera setup, featuring a 50MP main camera. However, it has an aperture of f/1.7 and a 1/1.56” Sony IMX906 sensor instead. Video-wise, it can record footage at up to 4K at 30fps.

Despite sporting the same 5,000mAh battery, the Xiaomi 14T has a wired charging speed of 67W, instead of 120W, which is still not slow by any means. It doesn’t support wireless charging for cost optimisation reasons.

Xiaomi 14T series European pricing

In Europe, the Xiaomi 14T Pro can be had from EUR799 (approx. RM3,690) onwards. The 14T on the other hand sports a starting price of EUR649 (approx. RM2,997).

Usually, phone prices in Malaysia are lower than in Europe, therefore we can expect the Xiaomi 14T series to sport lower price tags as they make their Malaysian market launch tomorrow (27th September 2024).

Xiaomi 14T series launching in Malaysia on 27th Sept

After making its global unveiling, the Xiaomi 14T Pro and 14T will be making their Malaysian-market launch tomorrow (27th September 2024) at 4pm. Xiaomi Malaysia has been holding a pre-order campaign for the 14T series since the 19th of September and will be ending it tomorrow (27th of September 2024) at 3pm.
