Nothing has launched its first-ever open-style earbuds, the Nothing Ear (open). The London-based tech company claims that its new open wearable stereo (OWS) earbuds not only provide its users with situational awareness but also immersive sound.

Nothing Ear (open) Malaysia price and availability

The Nothing Ear (open) is priced at RM659 here in Malaysia and will be exclusively available in limited units at Crossover’s official online store on 28th September 2024. Customers can also pre-order the earbuds on Nothing’s Shopee Official Store starting 1st October 2024 and on Nothing’s Lazada Flagship Store starting 5th October 2024. General sales for the Ear (open) will begin on 14th October across all channels.

Nothing Ear (open) specs and features

Like other Nothing products, the Ear (open) features a semi-transparent design. The earbuds are also designed to be light with each of them weighing just 8.1g. The charging case is also ultra-thin, measuring just 19mm, which Nothing says is one of the slimmest devices in the OWS category.

Designed for all-day comfort, the Nothing Ear (open) sports a three-point balance system and silicon ear hooks that provide a secure and light fit that can adapt to any ear shape. You can even wear the earbuds during physical activities such as running and cycling, without worrying about it falling off.

Equipped with Nothing’s Open Sound Technology, its open-ear design not only offers its users awareness of their surroundings but also an immersive audio experience, thanks to its custom diaphragm, titanium coating, ultra-light driver, and stepped design. The custom shape reduces distortion and enhances low frequencies, while the titanium coating reproduces crisp-sounding high notes,

As mentioned earlier, the Nothing Ear (open) comes with a lightweight driver, whose components are nearly 30% lighter than those found in typical earbuds. The driver also helps boost mid and high frequencies, while the stepped driver physically moves the speaker closer to the ear without compromising comfort. Nothing’s Bass Enhance algorithm is also included here, aiding in optimising low frequencies for richer bass reproduction.

The open design of the Nothing Ear (open) has been engineered with a Sound Seal System and directional speakers to minimise sound leakage, ensuring privacy while delivering a balanced soundstage.

Taking phone calls with the Nothing Ear (open) is its built-in Clear Voice Technology which Nothing says delivers crystal-clear calls, even in challenging environments. This is thanks to its AI-enhanced processing, which has been trained on over 28 million noise scenarios.

Connectivity on the Nothing Ear (open) is handled by Bluetooth 5.3, with Dual Connection available, enabling seamless switching between devices. Your gaming sessions are also made smoother thanks to Low Lag Mode. Nothing has also integrated ChatGPT the Ear (open), as long as you pair it with a Nothing Phone.

In the battery department, the Nothing Ear (open) can offer up to 8 hours of listening time on a single charge. This can be extended to a total of 30 hours with the charging case. When the earbuds run out of juice, a quick 10-minute charge can provide 2 hours of playback.
