Bermaz XPeng has implanted a countdown timer on XPeng Malaysia’s official website which just went online last week. The new timer is yet another major indicator that XPeng is about to make its grand debut in Malaysia very soon.
A quick check of the website’s source code revealed that the timer is pointing to 3:00 PM on Tuesday, 9 July. We don’t know what exactly Bermaz will announce next week but from what we know so far, the company will likely be announcing more details regarding XPeng G6’s imminent release into our market.
With that, let’s take a closer look at the electric SUV while we get ready for its official Malaysian launch soon.
XPeng G6 size vs Top 3 electric SUVs in Malaysia
This is how the XPeng G6 fares against some of the most popular electric SUVs in Malaysia at the moment, as far as their physical sizes are concerned:

Based on these figures, it seems that the G6 is about the same size as the Tesla Model Y. That being said, the Model Y does offer way more boot space than the G6 though.
XPeng G6 has three different variants
Since we don’t have details of what XPeng and Bermaz have planned for Malaysia, we don’t know which G6 variants that will be made available in our market. In terms of general setup, the G6 can be obtained in three options: rear-wheel drive (RWD) Standard Range and Long Range as well as the all-wheel drive (AWD) Performance.
The G6 RWD Standard Range has been fitted with a 190kW (255hp) electric motor while its Long Range counterpart features a 210kW (282hp) motor. Despite the differences in power output, both variants offer a peak torque of 440Nm.
With a top speed of 200km/h, the Standard Range option can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 6.9 seconds. On the other hand, the Long Range variant has a slightly better century sprint timing of 6.7 seconds.
As for the AWD Performance variant, it comes with a dual motor setup that has a total output of 350kW (469hp) and 660Nm of torque. This variant is also much quicker than its RWD counterparts since it can go from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.1 seconds.
XPeng G6 offers a range of up to 570km
Powered by a 66kWh LFP battery pack, the G6 RWD Standard Range offers a WLTP-rated range of up to 435km. As a comparison, the RWD Long Range version which is equipped with an 87.5kWh NCM battery pack can deliver up to 570km of range.
The same 87.5kWh NCM battery pack is used by the G6 AWD Performance model as well. This variant’s higher power output does affect its range but is still quite impressive at 550km which is not far off from the RWD Long Range model.
XPeng G6 supports DC charging speed of up to 280kW
We don’t know what kind of charging setup XPeng will equip into the G6 units that are bound for Malaysia. Based on the European specs, the RWD Standard Range can support DC charging speed of up to 215kW while the RWD Long Range and AWD Performance can even go up to 280kW.
The super-fast charging speed can be attributed to G6’s 800V architecture and this allows the EV to be charged from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes. G6 in Europe is also equipped with an 11kW onboard AC charger across all variants.
XPeng G6 ADAS is powered by NVIDIA
Another major feature of the G6 electric SUV that XPeng love to highlight is the EV’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) which is called XPENG Navigation Guided Pilot (XNGP). It is powered by two NVIDIA Drive Orin processors that have a combined compute power of 508 trillion operations per second (TOPS) to help process the EV’s 31 driving sensors – inclusive of two LiDAR sensors.
Meanwhile, other notable features that have been fitted into the G6 include a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.96-inch infotainment touch screen, a 50W wireless phone charger, a 960W 18-speaker Xopera audio system, and the Vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability.
How about XPeng G6’s pricing?
Over in China, the base variant of the G6 RWD Standard Range starts at CNY199,900 (~RM129,668). On the other end of the spectrum, the G6 AWD Performance goes for CNY276,900 (~RM179,615)
However, EV pricing in Malaysia is way higher than in China. So, don’t expect G6 to be priced that low over here.
In fact, we don’t think the G6 will go against the likes of BYD Atto 3 and Chery Omoda E5. Instead, it might be competing with higher-end models such as Tesla Model Y and Smart #1.
Expect limited units of XPeng G6 to be available at launch
If you are already interested in getting your hands on the new XPeng G6, you may want to make your move as soon as the EV officially debuts in Malaysia.
This is because Bermaz is not planning to bring a lot of units to Malaysia. According to the Group CEO of Bermaz, Francis Lee Kok Chuan in a recent interview with The Edge, XPeng has agreed to take a slow and steady approach to the Malaysian market.
