Zeekr will be making its first official appearance in Malaysia at the Electric Vehicle Expo (EVX) 2024 next month. For its Malaysian debut, Geely’s premium EV brand is expected to bring two models to the show including Zeekr X and Zeekr 009.
The upcoming appearance of Zeekr at EVX 2024 was confirmed by EVX’s organiser, local automotive portal paultan.org. Scheduled to take place on 20 and 21 July at Setia City Convention Centre, this year’s edition marked the third anniversary of the EV-focused event.
Earlier this month, we learned that Zeekr has appointed Sentinel Automotive to establish its presence in our market. Since then, the brand has also begun to tease the imminent arrival of Zeekr EVs in Malaysia through social media.
On X, the company has recently posted a set of pictures showing Zeekr X in several locations throughout Klang Valley. They include the Sultan Abdul Samad Building near Dataran Merdeka and Seri Wawasan Bridge in Putrajaya.
Another photo also shows the Zeekr X cruising on the stretch near the old Sungai Besi airbase on the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE). There is also a picture that showed the car near Petronas Twin Tower which we believe was shot in the Sky Garden of the Permata Sapura Tower.
Prior to these official photo shots, local automotive site Autobuzz posted a video of the EV cruising on an unnamed highway. Last week, the EV was also spotted in Klang by Facebook user Zhi Sheng who shared several photos in the paultan.org Facebook group.
Over in China, the Zeekr X can be obtained with a 4-seater configuration which customers can choose to have with either single motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) or dual motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup. The electric SUV comes with a 5-seater option although it is only available with the dual motor AWD setup.
In terms of performance, the Zeekr X RWD variant has a peak power output of 200kW (268hp) together with 343Nm of torque. This allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 5.8 seconds.
For the AWD variant, the dual motor setup provides a total power output of up to 315kW (422hp) alongside a maximum torque of 543Nm. Naturally, Zeekr X AWD can go from 0 to 100km/h than its RWD counterpart at just 3.8 seconds although they do have the same top speed of 190km/h.
Regardless of the variants, Zeekr X comes standard with a 66kWh ternary lithium battery pack. Range-wise, the Zeekr X can deliver up to 440km according to the WLTP standard although this rating only applies to the single motor variant.
As for the Zeekr 009, this massive MPV is powered by a ternary lithium that was sourced from CATL with capacities of up to 140kWh. It allows the EV to deliver a range of up to 822km although this is based on the rather lenient CLTC standards.
Unlike its SUV sibling, the 009 only comes in a dual-motor setup which has a total output of 400kW (536hp) and 686Nm of torque. Despite its size, Zeekr claimed that this MPV can go from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
