Right after announcing the Redmi 13 for Malaysia, Xiaomi is now back with a new device, this time with the other sub-brand Poco. And if you’ve been paying attention you’d notice that this is a pretty familiar smartphone too, with the new Poco M6 essentially a rebadge of the Redmi 13, with similar hardware across the board.

Poco M6 Malaysia pricing and availability

The Poco M6 will be available for sale from 13 June onwards and comes in two different configurations:

  • Poco M6, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage – RM699
  • Poco M6, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage – RM799

You will be able to get it exclusively on the Xiaomi Malaysia website as well as the official Poco stores on Shopee and Lazada. In fact, if you get it before 19 June, you’ll also be able to snag the Poco M6 from as low as RM539:

  • Poco M6, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage – RM699 RM539
  • Poco M6, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage – RM799 RM639

Considering how similar the Poco M6 is to the Redmi 13 though, the Redmi 13 may just seem like the better buy considering that at RM699, the Redmi 13 packs 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. However, if you’re able to snag it during the early bird promotion, the Poco M6 with similar specs would end up being a fair bit cheaper.

Poco M6 specs

Just how similar then is the Poco M6 to the recent Redmi 13? Well for starters, they both share the same 6.79-inch LCD display pushing a FHD+ resolution with a 90Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate that’s also capable of outputting a peak brightness of 550nits, 70% coverage of the NTSC colour gamut, a 1500:1 contrast ratio and has a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass over it too for scratch resistance.

Under the hood, the resemblance continues as the Poco M6 has a MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra under the hood, the same 12nm entry level system-on-chip that’s essentially a refreshed Helio G85 from yesteryear except with a new ISP. The Poco M6 also gets up to 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage and support for up to 1TB of expandable storage, with Xiaomi HyperOS pre-installed out of the box.

In the camera department, that improved ISP allows the Poco M6 to have a 108MP, f/1.75 main camera using a 1/1.67″ sensor with 3x in-sensor zoom, a secondary 2MP, f/2.4 macro shooter along with a 13MP, f/2.45 selfie shooter. You’ll also find a large 5,030mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm audio jack, an IP53 dust and water resistance rating along with support for WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless connectivity.
