You most probably know this company as the custodian of Nokia phones. However, HMD Global has finally moved on from that role by coming out with an in-house brand called HMD even though it has said that the company will continue making Nokia-branded phones.
Fast forward to last month, the company has revealed the HMD Pulse collection which is the first set of devices to carry the new HMD branding. They have since been made available for order in Malaysia.

HMD Pulse Pro quick specs
Powered by a Unisoc T606 processor, the HMD Pulse Pro comes standard with a 6.56-inch display that has a native resolution of 1612 x 720. The HD+ display also has a refresh rate of 90Hz with a typical brightness rating of 480nits that can be pushed up to 600nits.
The company was not shy to tell everyone that this model is targeted at selfie lovers which is why it has been equipped with a 50MP selfie camera for that purpose. On its back, the phone also features another 50MP camera which is accompanied by a 2MP depth camera.
Aside from that, HMD claimed that the Pulse Pro can deliver a battery life up of to 59 hours through its 5,000mAh battery. This IPS 52-rated smartphone does support fast charge feature although it maxes out at only 20W.
Other notable features of the Pulse Pro include OZO audio enhancements, a fingerprint scanner that has been integrated with the power button, and a 3.5mm audio jack. HMD is also committed to delivering 2 OS upgrades alongside 3 years of quarterly security updates to the phone.
HMD Pulse Plus quick specs
Just like its Pro sibling, the HMD Pulse Plus is also powered by a Unisoc T606 processor. It even has the same 6.56-inch 90Hz HD+ display alongside a 50MP main camera, 5,000mAh battery, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, OZO Audio enhancements, and IP52 rating.
What differentiates the Plus model from the Pro option is that it has a lower-resolution selfie camera at 8MP. Not to forget, the Pulse Plus’s charging capability also maxes out at a much lower power rate of 10W. There is also a depth sensor on its rear camera module but HMD Global did not reveal the specs.
These HMD devices are being shipped directly from China
Meanwhile, it appears that the HMD Global store on Shopee Malaysia is shipping its orders directly from China. While we don’t doubt its authenticity given that the shop has been provided with a shortened URL that bears the official HMD.com domain name, the warranty coverage was not explained in detail.
The listing for all three phones only said that customers will be provided with a “supplier warranty” that is going to last for 12 months. However, they did not mention the location of service centres in Malaysia. Hence, do proceed with caution if warranty and service coverage is a major concern for you.
