The French automation and energy company, Schneider Electric has officially opened its first-ever EV charging hub at Plaza 33 in Section 13, Petaling Jaya. Made possible through a collaboration with JusEV (pronounced as Juice-EV), the launch also marked the debut of the Schneider EVlink Pro DC chargers in Malaysia.

Some EV owners out there may remember that Schneider has previously launched its first EV charging station at Genting Premium Outlets (GPO) back in 2019. However, the deployment at Genting focused solely on AC chargers.
Over at Plaza 33, the new hub’s main attraction is the new 180kW EVlink Pro DC which is equipped with two nozzles and has been set to deliver dynamic charging capability. The location also features EVlink Smart Wallbox AC chargers on two bays.

When it comes to charging fees, it costs RM1.60 per kWh to utilise the DC charger at the new Plaza 33’s hub. For AC chargers, the fee is RM1.00 per kWh.
To discourage hogging, Schneider Electric and JusEV have also implemented idle fees which cost RM10.00 per 30 minutes. For those who are not familiar with idle fees, it is the amount that you have to incur for leaving your EV connected to the charger even though it has finished charging.
A variety of payment methods supported
What made this EV charging spot rather interesting is that it is one of the few locations at the moment where you can pay for EV charging using an e-wallet. This is because it has a dedicated payment terminal that supports selected eWallets as well as credit and debit cards.
However, we were told that contactless payments using credit and debit cards will only be supported soon as the hub’s Singapore-based payment solution provider still ironing out the kinks. Of course, users can also use the JusEV mobile app to activate these chargers.
Before you rush in to charge your EV at the new hub, it is not yet open to the public at the moment. According to JusEV Charging Network’s Managing Director, Jason Wong, the CPO is still waiting for the licence from the Energy Commission.
More EV chargers and charging hubs are on their way
Meanwhile, Schneider Electric and JusEV have said that they are committed to installing over 100 chargers throughout the country by the end of this year. 10% of these chargers will be DC fast chargers.
Jason also said that JusEV is looking to establish around 20 to 30 EV charging hubs with the focus being in Selangor and Johor. He also didn’t discount the possibility of establishing charging hubs on highways but admitted that the right conditions are needed to make that happen.
