Truth be told, one of the best ways to learn about electric vehicles is by renting them. If you have been curious about the Neta V which is currently the most affordable EV in our market, you can now rent it for less than RM100.
The Neta V rental service is provided by the Neta dealership NexV Synergy which is a joint venture between Careplus Group and GoAuto Group. Even though the company is based in Careplus Mall at Seremban, customers can choose to pick up their rented Neta V in Glenmarie as well.
The company can also arrange for delivery in other locations but it is limited to Klang Valley and subjected to additional charges. The standard rental fee is RM149/day although NexV Synergy is currently offering the service for RM99/day.
There is some discrepancy when it comes to the mileage cap though. In the booking section of the website, it was noted that customers will be given unlimited mileage.
However, the website’s FAQ section said that there is a mileage cap of 200km/day for this service. That being said, NexV Synergy didn’t specify the actual fee in the section.
Meanwhile, customers have to pay RM200 as a deposit which will be refunded back to them once they return the Neta V in good condition and without any traffic summons.
There was no mention of whether NexV Synergy provides a charging cable or charging card with their Neta V rental as GoCar GoEV’s Nissan Leaf. However, the company said that each rental unit will be fully charged before it is handed to customers and will provide them with a portable charger.
While it is not the first EV rental service in Malaysia, the new offering by NexV Synergy is currently the cheapest in the market that involves a fairly recent EV model. The closest EV rental rate that you can get would be GoCar’s GoEV service but you have to settle for the original Nissan Leaf which is something that we would not recommend unless you know what you are doing.
As a comparison, here’s how much it costs to rent an EV from other providers in the market:
Do note that the daily rates for Avis and Hertz listed above are based on their recent promotional pricing as listed here and here. As for the GoCar GoEV rates, they are based on what the company mentioned in its FAQ.
Available in just one variant for Malaysia, the Neta V is equipped with a 70kW (94hp) electric motor that also produces 150Nm of torque. With a top speed of 120km/h, Neta claimed that the EV can go from 0 to 50km/h in 3.9 seconds but has never officially revealed its 0 to 100km/h timing.
Powering the Neta V is a 38.54kWh ternary lithium battery pack that was sourced from CATL while Neta claimed that this model has an NEDC range of 380km. Just like its century sprint timing, the company has never revealed the car’s WLTP range but in general, you are likely able to extract around of 300km from Neta V.
When it comes to charging, the Neta V has been fitted with a 6.6kWh onboard AC charger which allows the EV to be fully charged in eight hours. It also supports DC charging of up to 100kW which cuts down the charging time from 30 to 80% in 30 minutes.
Other notable features within the Neta V include a 14.6-inch vertically-mounted infotainment touchscreen, digital instrument display, 3.3kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, and 335L boot space. As for safety features, there are two airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD).
Currently priced at RM100,000 on-the-road not inclusive of insurance, do check out our test drive with the Neta V right here:
