Realme 12 Pro series: Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, periscope telephoto camera, up to 120x zoom

The Realme 12 Pro series has been unveiled and it is making its global debut in India. The new mid-range Realme lineup boasts telephoto lenses, runs on Qualcomm chips and features a huge camera bump with triangular grooves inspired by luxury watches.

Realme 12 Pro+ 5G

In India, the range-topping model is called the Realme 12 Pro+ 5G which comes with a 6.7″ Full HD+ curved 120Hz OLED display. The screen boasts 950nits of peak brightness and 2160Hz PWM Dimming for greater eye comfort. Under the hood, it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 that’s mated with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. If required, users can “double” the RAM to 24GB using the Dynamic RAM feature.

The biggest highlight is its triple-camera setup for the rear. The device gets a 50MP main camera which uses a Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 64MP telephoto “periscope portrait” camera with OIS that’s capable of 3x optical zoom, 6x “in-sensor” zoom and up to 120x digital zoom.

Realme has also partnered with Chilean Claudio Miranda to add cinematic camera experiences for the Realme 12 Pro+. Users can choose between Journey, Maverick and Memory which applies its own unique colour grading. The device can shoot 4K videos at 30fps or 1080p videos at 60fps. For selfies, the device comes with a 32MP front shooter that sits in a tiny punch-hole on the display.

The Realme 12 Pro+ supports 5G, 802.11ax WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery which supports 67W fast charging via USB-C. According to Realme, 12 Pro+ can be charged from 1-50% in just 19 minutes.

The device also gets IP65-rated water resistance, which means that it can withstand accidental splashes. Also included is a pair of “Hi-Res Audio” speakers that support Dolby Atmos and it runs on Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14 out of the box.
