Besides Digi Postpaid 40 and 60 plans, CelcomDigi is also offering a free 5G access pass to Xpax Postpaid 40 and 60 customers. This means you no longer need to pay extra for 5G boosters to enjoy 5G on your plan.
The free 5G Access Pass can be activated via the Celcom Life app and it should be offered as a RM0.00 option under Add-ons. The pass is valid for 30 days and you can use 5G using your existing 4G data quota.
To recap, Xpax 40 offers 20GB of high-speed data, plus unlimited YouTube and Social for RM40/month. Meanwhile, the Xpax Postpaid 60 plans offer 40GB of data, along with unlimited YouTube and Social. Both plans also come with unlimited voice calls for networks within Malaysia.
Before this, users on lower commitment Celcom and Digi postpaid plans are required to buy 5G boosters to access 5G via Digital Nasional Berhad’s network. Despite public criticisms, CelcomDigi insists that the boosters are not considered 5G access fees as the add-on provides users with more data so that they can enjoy 5G services without disruption.
At the time, Xpax Postpaid 40 users had to pay RM20/month extra for 5G booster which came with 30GB of extra data, while Postpaid 60 users had to pay RM10/month extra for 5G booster which came with 60GB of extra data.
Last year, CelcomDigi intended to charge RM10/month to customers if they wished to access 5G using their existing plan. CelcomDigi later announced in August that they are offering free 5G access to eligible Celcom and Digi Postpaid plans with a monthly commitment of RM90/month and above. Eventually, the lower RM80/month postpaid plans were also offered free 5G passes. Unfortunately, the free 5G access pass is not offered to older legacy postpaid plans.
