Yoodo, the MVNO under CelcomDigi, has finally waived its 5G internet pass charges on its high-speed data plans. This comes after Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil’s recent announcement that telcos will no longer charge for 5G access. As a result, you can now enjoy 5G on Yoodo for as little as RM12 per month.
Based on our checks on the Yoodo app, users can now add “5G Internet” to any high-speed plans without incurring extra charges. Users can customise their data-only plan with 2GB for RM12 or 20GB for RM20.
Currently, Yoodo is offering a bonus of 25GB of data if you customise a plan with 40GB to 100GB of data. That means you can enjoy 65GB of data for only RM40/month. If you’re going to use more data with 5G, you should customise a plan with more data or buy a short-term Power Pass which provides 100GB of data at RM2 for 1 hour, RM5 for 3 hours or RM15 for 12 hours.
However, to enjoy 5G, you’ll need to customise or restart a new plan, and make sure “5G Internet” is ticked. That means you will have to wait until the next cycle or force a new plan renewal today, which will forfeit your existing plan.
Yodo has also updated their FAQ which now indicates RM0 across the board for 5G internet. Similar to before, the 5G access is not applicable if you go for Yoodo Unlimited Plans which start from RM35/month with a 3Mbps speed cap.
Yoodo activated 5G in February 2023 and the 5G access was initially offered for free under its 5G trial pass. Eventually, customers had to pay RM5 per month if they wanted to continue accessing 5G on their Yoodo plan.
Last November, Yoodo restructured its 5G Internet pass pricing to as low as RM1 depending on the amount of data you customise. Before the latest update, Yoodo’s 5G pass was priced at RM5 for 2-6GB, RM3 for 10GB to 30GB and RM1 for 65GB and above.
