Xiaomi’s Redmi will be launching the newest member to the Note family in India on 4 January, and Malaysians will be getting the new Note pretty soon as well, if the SIRIM database has anything to say about it.
Online, Xiaomi India’s official X account has been sharing information and first impressions of the phone online as the official global launch event nears. We can’t confirm that we are getting the same model from the Indian launch, but their specs sheet can be used as a rough guide to what we can expect here in Malaysia.
When we searched the database, we spotted a couple of entries for the new Redmi Note family already listed and certified for the Malaysian market. The two models are the Redmi Note 13 5G and Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G.
Of course the most important info, which Xiaomi itself is promoting hard, is that this is the first Redmi Note with full IP68 dust and water resistance.
The back of the Pro model is also different than the standard model, with a new finish and multicolour panel design in pastel colours. While you think it may be modular, unfortunately it is not.
Other important information:
- The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G will be the first phone to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2
- The Redmi Note 13 5G will be using MediaTek’s Dimensity 6080
- The base model will have a 33W fast charging support
- The main camera on the base model is a 108MP unit
We do not know how much the phone will cost until the global launch event announces it. As comparison, the Redmi Note 12 started from RM699 and the Redmi Note 12 Pro had an RM1,099 sticker price when it was launched in Malaysia.
As you can see, we will be seeing a regional launch event in Bangkok on 15 January. Most likely we will be getting regional prices for each market, including Malaysia by then.
