We’re in the midst of December now, and you know what that means right? Year end bonus Christmas season is upon us! It’s not just the time to be snacking on candy canes and roast meats though, as Christmas is also the season of giving. But if you’re not sure on just what to get your second cousin’s twice-removed baby-in-law for Christmas this year, then have no fear as we’re here to get you right on track.
We’ve compiled a slew of gadgets that you can get as a gift this Christmas, ranging from the budget friendly for Secret Santa with colleagues you have to pretend to like as well as the ones that cost a fair bit more for the spouse and kids. There’s something for everyone here, so be sure to check out everything on our list. To make it even easier for you, we’ve sorted them out by price range too, and if you’re quick you can even find them on sale as it’s almost 12.12 at time of writing.
And lastly, if you still can’t make your mind up, then down at the bottom of this list is an ‘Editor’s Choice’ of sorts where we’ve included some of our own personal recommendations of gifts to get from this list.

Editor’s choice
1. Sony WF-1000XM5
Ever since Apple removed the 3.5mm audio jack and made wireless earbuds a thing, the Sony WF-1000XM series of true wireless earbuds have been recognised as some of the best available out there. If the person you’re getting a gift for loves music—and doesn’t already have a pair of these—then the latest Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds may just be the best gift you can get for them.
Even Sony calls these the ‘best noise cancelling headphones’ out there, thanks to their 8.4mm Dynamic Driver X driver units in each earbud that provide richer vocals and lower distortion, along with a new V2 integrated processor and an updated QN2e noise cancelling processor. Complete with an IPX4 water resistance rating and a 25% smaller body, the WF-1000XM5 are good for up to 8 hours of music with ANC on, and up to 12 hours of use with ANC off. The charging case meanwhile—which can be charged via USB-C or wirelessly—provides an additional 24 hours of use.
2. Asus ROG Ally
In case it wasn’t obvious enough from our review of the ROG Ally, we love this little handheld gaming device from Asus. If you’re looking to get a new toy for the gamer in your life, the ROG Ally offers them a cool new gadget that they can use during lunch breaks at work to play video games.
Featuring a 7-inch, IPS FHD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 500nits of brightness, it’s powered by the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor and more importantly comes with Windows 11 out of the box. This lets it play just about anything that you could on a regular gaming PC, be it games from Steam, Epic Games Store, Battle.net and more. You could even just use it like a Windows tablet to watch stuff on the go. Do take note of the relatively short battery life though; maybe you can get them a heavy duty power bank for Christmas too.
3. Samsung Odyssey OLED G9
For those with much, much deeper pockets, the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 is perhaps the most balls-to-the-wall gaming monitor you can get right now. Officially retailing from RM9,499 but available on eCommerce platforms for under RM8,000 at time of writing, the Odyssey OLED G9 would be the perfect upgrade for any gamer with an old monitor, especially if they’re keen on games that make full use of it such as sim racing.
The Odyssey OLED G9 boasts a 49-inch, 32:9 OLED panel with a ‘Dual QuadHD’, 5120 x 1440p resolution. This means that this super ultrawide is basically two 1440p monitors morphed together, except with no bezels and an 1800R curvature to it. It also has a typical brightness of 250nits, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and a 240Hz refresh rate, on top of a 0.03ms grey-to-grey response time and of course, RGB lighting on the back too. Just perhaps make sure that whoever you’re gifting it to has a PC that’s beefy enough to use it.
