Here’s proof that Malaysia’s first Apple Store at TRX is real

A video has made its way online that showed a group of construction workers standing near an Apple signboard. Given that the massive Exchange 106 building is prominently visible at the start of the video, it is quite clear that it was captured at the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) Kuala Lumpur.

Shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) by prominent local Apple critic, Xavier Naxa, the short 11-second video is the latest proof that the first Apple Store in Malaysia is indeed part of the massive integrated development project. Rumours regarding Apple Store TRX have been around since 2021 although the first real proof only appeared late last year.

Previously, our view of the Apple Store TRX mainly came from the fantastic drone shots by SCM Southern Corridor Malaysia including the latest video which was published in the middle of October. A recent update from Skyscrapers MY has also included a glimpse of the new store.

The Apple Store is located at TRX City Park @ The Exchange TRX

Those who have been following the progress of Apple Store TRX would also immediately recognise the building’s unique tudung saji-like roof design that is also noticeable in the new video. Also visible in the video is a signboard but only the word “Taman” was clear enough to read.

We have noticed an image on The Exchange TRX’s official Facebook page that contained a similar-looking signboard but it showed “TRX City Park” instead. Hence, we believe that the signboard likely said “Taman Bandar TRX“.

The TRX City Park has been described as a 10-acre rooftop park that would serve multiple roles including dining space, recreational area, and event space. In addition to that, it will also have its own jogging trail and meditation zones.

Not only that, TRX’s website also claimed that the park has enough space to host a pop-up IMAX theatre. Given Apple’s penchant for unique locations, TRX seems like a perfect location to set up an Apple Store.

The Exchange TRX to open its doors without waiting for Apple Store?

As captured in September 2023 from The Exchange 106.

According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the Apple Store in TRX will be opened in February 2024. However, the Exchange TRX itself will be opening its doors to the public much earlier on 29 November 2023.

With just one week to go before the opening day, we have yet to hear any official announcement from Apple regarding its new retail location. Hence, we doubt that the Apple Store TRX will be opened to the public next week.

Nevertheless, we will try to get a glimpse of the store once the condition permits, so stay tuned.
