[ UPDATE 3/1/2024 13:00 ] WCE Section 6 users will now have to pay for tolls at Assam Jawa Toll Plaza.

West Coast Expressway (WCE) Section 6 will be opened to traffic starting tomorrow, 21 November at 12:01 AM. The new section will allow the public to access WCE through Bandar Bukit Raja in Klang and Assam Jawa in Kuala Selangor.
The main benefit of the new section is that it reduces the time taken to travel from Kapar to Assam Jawa and vice versa. Instead of 45 minutes through the existing route, the WCE Section 6 cuts the travel time to just 15 minutes.
Not only that, users can also connect directly to the Kuala Lumpur – Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR) from the Assam Jawa Interchange. Before this, three other portions of the highway have also been opened to the public including Section 8 which covers the route between Hutan Melintang and Teluk Intan.
Other than that, there’s also the WCE Section 9 (Lekir – Changkat Chermin), Section 10 (Changkat Chermin – Beruas), and Section 5 (Bandar Bukit Raja Selatan – Bandar Bukut Raja Utara). At the moment, WCE already recorded an average daily traffic of 60,000 vehicles and this number is expected to increase once the new section is open to the public tomorrow.
Three more portions including Section 1 (Banting – SKVE), Section 2 (SKVE – SAE), and Section 11 (Beruas – Taiping Selatan) are expected to be opened next year. The remaining sections of the 233km highway will be completed by 2025.
Free toll until early January 2024
Aside from shaving 30 minutes off the travel time from Kapar to Assam Jawa, there is another good reason to give the new section a go. In conjunction with the launch, you will be able to travel through WCE Section 6 toll-free starting from 12:01 AM on 21 November until 11:59 PM on 2 January 2024.
This was announced by Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi during the launch event for the section earlier today. Just to be clear, you will incur a toll fee if you enter or exit the highway using the Bandar Bukit Raja Selatan’s toll plaza as the plaza is part of WCE Section 5.
