Xiaomi has announced a brand new entry-level smartphone in Malaysia, the Redmi 13C. This comes after days of teasers on their social media pages, and it’s now official, with the Redmi 13C featuring a number of solid features for its price point such as a large display and a high refresh rate.

Redmi 13C Malaysia pricing and availability

The Redmi 13C is now available for purchase in Malaysia, coming in a single configuration with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for RM499. You can find it on sale at all authorised Xiaomi retailers as well as the official Xiaomi store on Lazada and Shopee.

Redmi 13C specs

If these specs are giving you a sense of deja vu, then its actually because the Redmi 13C is kind of a rebadge of the Poco C65, a similarly priced entry level smartphone from the Xiaomi sub-brand. This means instead of the large Poco logo next to the cameras, you’ll now find a more subtle Redmi logo on the bottom as well as different colourways. Flip it around and you’ll see a large 6.74-inch, HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, pushing a peak brightness of 600nits and has an unspecified layer of Corning Gorilla Glass over it for scratch resistance too.

Under the hood meanwhile is a MediaTek Helio G85, mated to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of eMMC 5.1 storage; you can also add in a microSD card of up to 1TB in size for external storage. The Redmi 13C will come with Android 13 out of the box, skinned with MIUI 14 over it.

In the camera department, there’s a “triple” rear camera setup, though you’ll likely only be using the main 50MP, f/1.8 shooter most of the time as the other two are a 2MP, f/2.4 macro lens and an auxiliary depth sensor. Housed in a tear drop notch in front meanwhile is an 8MP, f/2.0 selfie shooter.

Other features of note include a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging via USB-C, though in the box is just a 10W charger. You’ll also find a single bottom firing speaker but there is still a 3.5mm audio jack at least, along with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and support for 4G LTE, WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. The Redmi 13C will be available in black, blue, white and green colourways.
