We’re big fans of Asus‘ ultralight ExpertBook laptops here in the office, having first encountered them a couple of years ago with the ExpertBook B9. This time round, Asus has just announced the arrival of their latest ExpertBook B9 OLED, which at less than 1kg is perhaps the world’s lightest 14-inch OLED laptop that you can get.
Built out of a premium magnesium-lithium alloy, the ExpertBook B9 OLED comes in at just 990g and 15.7mm thin, making it one of the lightest new laptops around. This is despite it being a 14-inch laptop, with its weight making it lighter than most 13-inch class laptops too. Its chassis may be light but it’s strong too, with Asus claiming that it meets not just their own in-house durability tests but also the US MIL-STD-810H standard for durability. Asus adds that the ExpertBook B9 OLED is built out of up to 70% post-industrial recycled metal as well, in a bid to reduce its environmental impact.
Open up the ExpertBook B9 OLED and you’ll be greeted with a 14-inch, 16:10 OLED display, pushing a 2880 x 1800p resolution. This panel is also capable of a 90Hz refresh rate and 400nits of brightness, as well as full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. Under the hood meanwhile is an Intel Core i7-1355U, mated to 32GB of LPDDR5 memory and a 1TB SSD. There’s also a 63Wh battery that Asus says will be good for up to 11 hours of use.
Elsewhere, the ExpertBook B9 OLED has stereo speakers with a three-mic setup, as well as two-way AI noise-cancelling. You’ll find a 1080p FHD IR webcam and a fingerprint reader on the power button too, as well as support for WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connectivity. As for I/O, you get a USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port, two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, an Ethernet port, a HDMI 2.1 port and a 3.5mm combo audio jack.
The Asus ExpertBook B9 OLED is available for purchase in Malaysia already from Asus’ retail partners, priced at RM8,999. For more about the ExpertBook B9 OLED, you can check out its product page on the Asus Malaysia website here.
