GWM Malaysia offers RM20,000 rebate for Ora Good Cat EV

Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia has announced a special rebate for the Ora Good Cat which is the brand’s current fully-electric offering in Malaysia. The new promotion was in conjunction with the first anniversary of GWM Malaysia.

Ora Good Cat EV made its official debut in Malaysia last year to help usher the return of GWM into our market. The brand has since then expanded its offering by adding the Cannon pick-up truck into the line-up while it is also planning to launch Haval H6 and Jolion hybrid SUVs very soon.

Ora Good Cat Malaysia rebate

Through the GWM’s 1st anniversary promotion, customers can get their hands on the new Good Cat with a rebate of RM20,000. As a refresher, here’s the current on-the-road (OTR) price for the EV which is not inclusive of insurance:

  • Ora Good Cat 400 Pro: RM140,500
  • Ora Good Cat 500 Ultra: RM170,500

With the rebate in place, you are then looking at a price tag of RM120,500 and RM150,500, respectively. However, do note that this rebate is only available for this month.

Oddly enough, GWM Malaysia also said that only certain colourways are eligible for this rebate but you have to check with respective GWM dealers to see which colours are in stock. Nevertheless, this RM20,000 rebate still applies to both 400 Pro and 500 Ultra trims.

As a reference, the Pistachio Green, Verdant Green with White Roof and Haze Wood Beige with Brown Roof options are exclusive to the 500 Ultra trim. On the other hand, colourways such as Coral Blue, Hamilton White, Sun Black, Mars Red with Black Roof, and Hamilton White with Black Roof are available for both Good Cat trims.

Ora Good Cat quick specs

Both Good Cat 400 Pro and 500 Ultra are equipped with the same front-mounted 105kW (141hp) electric motor which also produces 210Nm of torque. Hence, they have the same top speed of 152km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h  in 9.3 seconds.

What differentiates them are their batteries as the 400 Pro comes with a 47.79kWh lithium iron phosphate battery while the 500 Ultra features a 63.14kWh ternary lithium battery. Naturally, the difference in battery capacity affects the amount of range that these Good Cat variants can deliver.

Specifically, the 400 Pro has an NEDC-rated range of 400km while the 500 Ultra’s NEDC range is 500km. If you prefer the more accurate WLTP standards instead, the range would be 310km and 420km, respectively.

When it comes to charging, both trims come standard with an onboard 6.6kW AC charger. It takes the Good Cat 400 Pro around 8 hours to be fully charged through AC charging while the 500 Ultra need a slightly longer time at 10 hours.

Both variants also support DC fast charging of up to 60kW. This allows the charging time to be significantly reduced to around 40 minutes for the 500 Ultra model and 32 minutes for the 400 Pro option.

To learn more, you can visit any of the GWM dealers throughout Malaysia to have hands-on experience with the EV. Before you go, don’t forget to check out our review of the Ora Good Cat right here.
