Charge Point Operator (CPO) DC Handal has just turned on several DC chargers located at Bamboo Hills and UOA Business Park. These locations are equipped with Kempower EV chargers that are capable of pushing up to 200kW per nozzle.

The DC Handal EV charging locations at Bamboo Hills and UOA Business Park come with four charging bays that use CCS2 connectors. Similar to other sites including Bangsar South, the DC Handal chargers are priced at RM1.50 per kWh.

The key difference of DC Handal is that it accepts contactless payments such as credit, debit and prepaid cards. This means anyone can activate these chargers without downloading an app and they can just tap the card on the reader to start charging.

RM50 pre-authorisation required for card payments

However, your card will be charged a pre-authorisation amount during activation. Previously, DC Handal requires RM75 for pre-authorisation but they have now reduced this to RM50. At the moment, it may take a few days to get back your remaining balance and we are told that DC Handal is working with the respective financial institutions to speed up the process.

Here’s a quick video on how you can activate and stop the EV charger using your contactless payment card:

DC Handal’s 200kW chargers are blazing fast

Similar to what we have experienced at Berjaya Times Square, these Kempower chargers are super quick to top up your EV’s battery. During our test, we managed to get a peak rate of 191kW. It only took us 9 minutes to charge from 54% to 80% with a total of 21.9kWh of energy transferred which is good enough for over 120km of range.

54-80% charge in just 9 minutes

At a rate of RM1.50 per kWh, our quick charging session cost us RM32.84. DC Handal’s pricing is on the high side considering ChargEV’s 320kW DC Charger at Berjaya Times Square is still priced at RM1.20 per kWh.

If you want to avoid the pre-authorisation amount, you can use charging apps such as JomCharge and ChargEV to activate the chargers. The EV charging session will be charged to your saved card in the respective apps.

DC Handal has also enabled more DC fast charging locations at Bangsar South and Penang

DC Handal has also deployed Autel DC Chargers at Bangsar South as well as in Penang. Apart from the 100kW Kempower DC Charger installed on the ground floor near Lazada office at Bangsar South, DC Handal has deployed two Autel 47kW DC chargers with two CCS2 nozzles at the B1 car park of The Vertical, and a 30kW DC Charger with two connectors at the B1 car park of The Horizon.

In Penang, DC Handal’s first location is at Choo Plaza which has a 90kW Autel DC Charger with two CCS2 nozzles. All of these chargers can also be activated via credit, debit and prepaid cards, and they are also priced at RM1.50 per kWh.

In total, DC Handal has 8 DC fast charging points at Bangsar South, 4 at UOA Business Park, 4 at Bamboo Hills and 2 at Choo Plaza. Their upcoming DC charging locations include Wisma MCA.
