If you’re heading up north to Penang and Kedah, Gentari and JomCharge have just deployed a new DC charger at Petronas Juru Lay-by Northbound along the North-South Expressway. This location gets a 180kW DC charger unit with two CCS2 nozzles.
According to the JomCharge app, the charger is priced at RM2.20 per minute and each nozzle can push up to 90kW each. If you have an active annual Gentari membership, the DC charger would cost you RM1.10 per minute. Assuming you can get a constant 90kW charging rate, a quick 20-minute charge should be enough to provide 30kWh of energy which is good for about 200km of range.
According to the Petronas Juru Lay-by Northbound listing on PlugShare, this location used to have a slower 20kW DC charger with both CCS2 and CHAdeMO connectors. However, the 20kW DC charger seems to be out of service even before the new 180kW DC charger was deployed.
