The Shell Recharge EV charging facility in Pavilion KL is about to go live very soon. Positioned just one row behind the Tesla Supercharger in the basement parking of the shopping mall, the hoarding board that previously surrounded the spot was recently removed and this has revealed the site’s setup.
The site has four charging bays with two of them covered by a 60kW Starcharge Athena 60 DC fast charger (DCFC). Equipped with two CCS2 nozzles, we have seen the charger being used in Malaysia before at the GO TO-U Charging Hub in Cyberjaya.
The other two charging bays have been assigned to a 22kW Starcharge Saturn AC charger that has two Type 2 nozzles. Given that it is a slower charger, it is suitable for EV owners who want to stay at Pavilion KL for an extended period.
There is one interesting characteristic that we have noticed about this site: it has no automated parking barrier, unlike other Shell Recharge locations in Malaysia. Nevertheless, you still have to use the same ParkEasy app to access them, as noted by the signings on the nearby pillars.
That being said, the charging fees for the new Shell Recharge EV charging facility at Pavilion KL have not yet been revealed. So far, the charging fee for all Shell Recharge EV chargers in Malaysia is on an hourly basis except for the HPC locations which is per minute instead.
In addition to that, customers also must have a minimum balance of 200 credits (equivalent to RM200) inside their ParkEasy wallet before they can utilise the DCFC at HPC locations. It is not yet known if Shell Malaysia will implement the same policy on Pavilion KL’s DCFC, but it is still something you may want to note.
