HP just announced their latest Spectre device, the HP Spectre Foldable PC. The foldable device is HP’s take on a multi-mode device for the professional on the road. It integrates the features of a laptop, tablet, and desktop for a hybrid working experience.
They are not the first company to produce a foldable laptop – we have checked out the Asus Zenbook Fold 17 OLED before and Lenovo has the Thinkpad X1 Fold. But what makes the HP stand out? Read on.
The HP Spectre Foldable PC starts from a small, foldable 12.3-inch laptop form factor. If the user needs more screen real estate, the screen can be unfolded to a 17-inch tablet with stylus support. Lastly, deploy the kickstand, prop the Spectre on a table and use the Bluetooth keyboard to turn it into full desktop mode.
For those who are allergic to cables, there’s good news; no additional cables are needed to charge the keyboard or pen with wireless charging integrated into the device.
HP fitted the Spectre Foldable PC with a 4:3 17-inch foldable OLED touch display, with a resolution of 2.5K and a peak of 500 nit brightness. Inside, it is powered by an Intel Core i7-1250U CPU with Intel Irise Xe graphics, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB of SSD storage.
It also comes with WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. For other connectivity, two Thunderbolt 4 ports are included for docks, peripherals and so on.
Inside that thin body, HP managed to cram a 94.3 Wh battery that HP claims can last up to 12. 3 hours. Included with the purchase is a 100W charger to fast charge the device while you are on the go.
Other notable features are a 5MP webcam with Windows Hello, as well as quad speakers tuned by Bang & Olufsen with DTS:X Ultra support. By the way, the camera and microphone can be turned off for privacy with a hardware switch.
The HP Spectre Foldable PC will have a starting sticker price of USD 4,999.99 (about 23,429.95). The device appeared in the SIRIM database earlier this year, so the probability that the Spectre Foldable PC coming to Malaysia is high.
