[ UPDATE 15:00 10/09/2023 ] Apple analyst Mark Gurman confirms iPhone 15 Pro Max will be retained for this year’s iPhone launch. More details here.

===

The new Apple iPhone launch is expected to happen on 13 September, 1am Malaysian time. We should be seeing the next iPhones – both standard and Pro – announced during the event. Two models that we are not going to see are the Max and the Ultra variant – at least according to reports online.

According to Mark Gurman, chief correspondent and analyst from Bloomberg, Apple is gearing up to launch only four models this time around. The models are:

  • iPhone 15
  • iPhone 15 Plus
  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • bigger iPhone 15 Pro

In case not clear: there won’t be a Pro Max AND an Ultra. Four models total: 15, 15 Plus, Pro, bigger Pro.

— Mark Gurman (@markgurman) September 2, 2023

Notice that there will be two iPhone 15 Pros in the lineup, but without any suffixes to show the size. Previously, Apple have used the Max and Ultra moniker to differentiate the models for the Pro lineup – mainly for size comparison.

Mark himself wrote way in February that Apple is considering not using the Max and Ultra branding for this year’s launch – instead just introducing a higher-end model without any superfluous nouns attached to it.

With premium positioning, comes the expected premium price. Though, no price leaks have yet to be spotted online for what consumers can expect to pay for the new models.

So far, all we know is that the mute toggle may be going away, iPhone 15 will (finally) sport USB C ports, Apple will be gimping the speed of the ports for the 15 and 15 Plus, and we may see a periscope camera installed in the Pro models.

The launch for the 2023 iPhone is only a few days away, so stay tuned with us on the latest updates on the iPhone 15. In the meantime, check out our review of the iPhone 14 Pro Max below.
